CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional

is the #1 sought after certification, as well as the #1 search tag employers use when looking for Information Security Professionals.  It is true that this is the hardest IT/IS exam out there that deals with information security.  It has been often said that the knowledge required for this exam is 10 miles wide and 2 feet deep, which is a fairly accurate description.  This certification covers every area of security with the exception of two areas (1) National Security or Military Force & 2) Personal Security or having a body guard.

SSCP: Systems Security Certified Practitioner

is a more focused certification that only deals with 7 of the 10 security domains covered in the CISSP.  This certification is a great place to start if you are comtemplating entering into a career in Information Security as a Professional.
